Hi guys jst a quick question......
Before getting diagnosed type1 2years ago now, I used to have a drink and be socially comfortable and get on with every1. Now wen I drink it doesn't take much to get drunk and wen I'm drunk I can become quite aggressive and argumentative which is not normally me to ppl I love. This is becoming a problem as I recently lost a good friend through this. Any help would b grateful. Has any1 experienced this?? I know giving up alcohol would b the most sensible thing to do!!! Which Iam considering. Thanks.

Hi laurenk978, there are already a couple of threads running in relation to alcohol and diabetes.

If you were to have a look, you'll see that some alcohols can raise blood sugars and others can lower them. It also depends on what you're eating as well.

And then there is also a thread about blood sugar and emotions. In a nutshell, some people get a bit tetchy when they have high blood sugars.

The aggression could be down to low bg levels, getting drunk can mask hypo symptoms so you have to be careful and monitor your bg levels and drink sensibly, otherwise it might be worth just giving up the alcohol and keeping your friends.
