I am an old but card carrying hippie so the things I don't like are too numerous to mention. I am not a patriot of any kind. My country continuously shames me and themselves.
I bought a lancet device @walmart the other day because we keep misplacing them temporarily. Looking thru the instructions I noticed a small section on alternate testing sites. Jennifer has only ever used the fingertips and they are getting pretty worn. Someone told her to only do it there so that's what she does.

Other than what her endocrinologist/dilettante told her, she has had very little input on changes in equipment** or treatment. She is not internet literate other than emails and watching the Hung and the Breathless. So I'm trying to fill in some of the knowledge gaps as best I can.

** She's had several pumps and sensors...... if a sensor can't communicate with the pump both are worthless another than fewer punctures to the skin when hung on a brittle diabetic.

Does anyone use other sites to draw blood for testing. What a barbaric practice. If a dog can tell when someone's sugar is low you'd think someone from the new field of science for greed would figure out a way to get rich on a device that uses breath or saliva.

Hi Ron45 yes there are alternate site testing but you will need a special cap that goes on the finger pricker plus you should have a word with your dsn or consultant as they say getting blood from fingers is better then ast hope this helped?

With respect, Ron, whilst animals can be extremely well attuned to us, anyone being alerted by their assistance dog would, I'm sure, be advised to check it out, via traditional testing.

I have read, there are pumps with alarms and sensor which can suspend insulin delivery, but I can't recall which one, and of course those particular pumps may not be available where your are (assuming the Walmart reference suggests you are in the US).

I'm not T1, but I'm sure plenty of those will drop by and contribute to your thread this evening. It has been a particularly lovely day here in the part of the UK I live in, so many people may have taken the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, whilst the sun has been shining.

I hope your daughter finds a more comfortable way forward.
