First hbac1 result early July was 49. Just got result from late July test and it had reduced to 47. The doctor mentioned something like a 3 digit abbreviation for the reading (IGR?) but didn't mention pre-diabetes. Is this the same thing?
Since that last test that produced a 47, I've also lost a stone and been in a low carb diet so hopefully bringing it down further.
Hopefully you are on the way to a truly normal HbA1c. Could the 3 letter reading be IGT? That is impaired glucose tolerance, in other words pre-diabetic.
Welcome to the prediabetes club, there are a lot of us about the forum. Sounds like you are already tacking all the necessary actions which will hopefully show up in you next tests.
48 is the cut off point for full blown diabetes so a 49 and a 47 means you were right on the limit. I say were as the weight loss and new diet should be sending you in the right direction, I'd be amassed if it hasn't gone down. Well done with the new lifestyle.
