An egg thread - good news

Not really big news. We have known this for ages but it is good that the boffins are catching up.
 
I love eggs! Two for breakfast, one or two per day for snacks, possibly two or three more if I, say, have ham and eggs for supper and maybe something puddingy which has eggs in as an ingredient. I find they're delicious and incredibly convenient to have on me in case I get peckish (PECKISH!!!!!!!!! *squawk*) at all.

 
What I think is that if you're eating eggs in a reasonable quantity, like two or three a day you aren't going to eat other foods that could be more problematic. On the other hand if one eats 6 eggs a day maybe some problem could arise if is not a farmer.
 
We buy five dozen eggs a fortnight.

I have to have something decent like a three egg and cheese and mushroom omelette, to build a foundation for all of the medication I take in the morning.
 
It's odd that the diabetes.co.uk article says, " Overall, recent evidence seems to suggest that up to two eggs per day can be safely consumed in the context of a healthy lifestyle as they have either neutral or slightly positive effects on various risk markers of CVD or type 2 diabetes." whereas the actual research article says, "In conclusion, up to seven eggs per week can safely be consumed, but in patients with established CVD or T2D only with special emphasis on a healthy lifestyle." (Emphasis is mine.)
 
Eggs are a comfort food for me and they NEVER spike me. Nicely satisfying without feeling stuffed.
 
If I stopped eating eggs the egg farmers would go out of business.

This is very old news anyway.
 
Well, it is big news that this has or will hit the mainstream. Any news disproving the incredibly damaging message of the late 70s, which I personally still get hot under the collar about if I think about it too long - that eggs were dangerous foods, is good news indeed. I have also seen studies referred to that T2 diabetics shouldn't eat 'too many' of them quite recently indeed - in the last three years. And of course - they are associative studies only. (And yeah - that Dr Who clip was scary as well as funny.) (Love that show.) (Many thanks for that @MikeTurin.)

So any research that puts lots of eggs back in the pantry of folks not in the know about dreadful nutritional advice is all good! Thanks for bringing my attention to it @Jo_the_boat. The more studies like that under our belts the better .
 
Just had a three egg omelette, and was reminiscing with my partner about the ****** egg powder we had to eat when food rationing was still on after the war ended.

I remember the first time I ever had a real egg to eat, and it was a great experience to eat something that did not taste like ****.

I think the egg powder came from the US or Canada but i'm not sure of that tho..
 
Had a cheese asparagus omelet in butter and a bit more melted on top. Yummy

It was of course this thread that inspired that craving.
 
I love eggs too. Lately I've been having two scrambled for breakfast. I need to mix it up, maybe a cheese omelette. Eggs are awesome because you can do a lot with them.

I had some asparagus last week. They were nice, served with a little cream cheese. Wrapped in prosciutto is nice too.
