An interesting if not enlightening discussion.
Firstly, he had some idea about low carb diets, but wasn't either pro or con, however, was pleased it was working and the results were showing through.
He hasn't heard of the libre, or any of the new insulins, and was not impressed when I asked about Sanofi reps, saying that he didn't see reps.
He was happy to change test strips to the optiums, and I can confirm that these are £15.64 per 50 to the NHS.
He basically said that as a GP, the most important thing to him was proven products and not the new stuff due to what he has to look after in his practice.
He did say well done on the changes and that he was pleased it was working for me.
The other surprise was the blood pressure test, which typically I do badly at, as I'm nearly always white coat high.
Not today. 128/75, which is low for me on these tests. What was more surprising was that this test came with no blood pressure medication for the past four days due to the appointment coming up and I'd run out. Something really seems to have changed.
So there you are. A willing and pleased GP, but not one who is that interested in the innovatory stuff as it isn't something he can apply in his daily work, until it is NICE approved.
