I am type 2 on Metformin . I had my yearly blood test Tuesday , told no need to fast . I have a follow on appointment to see practice diabetic nurse next week for results. I have just had a call from my doctors receptionist I have never had a call ever in all my life from doctors , so this worried me straight away , to say my blood test came back abnormal and could I come in as soon as possible but this time a fasting blood test. I asked why as this sent alarm bells ringing , she said the doctor just said abnormal. What does this mean......very worried.

We have no way of knowing. Having said that, the thing that is most affected by fasting/non-fasting is lipids, so it could be that but there is only one way to find out.

I have never heard of lipids? No one ever mentioned them. I have been type 2 for 5 years never seen a doctor just diabetic nurse. I have no testing monitor, told not to use.

I have looked it , you mean high cholesterol?
Bet they suggest statins my husband and my mum were on them had a terrible time I heard they try and put all diabetics on them whether they need or not.
I hate all kind of drugs , had to be persuaded to take metformin, would rather do things naturally if possible. I use the milk with the plant sterols and eat a caveman diet.

I'm afraid that doctors can be very thoughtless. They see a blood test that is way out, quite possibly a laboratory error, or it's only a tiny bit out, but there has been a recent incentive to get everyone within certain parameters and YOU have a weekend of constant worry, constantly pestering Dr Google.
Just remember, if it is the statin thing, you don't have to accept them. Simply say "no", with a nice big smile and a thank you.

Could I suggest that you do get yourself a blood sugar tester. It's the only way you can know how you are doing and what affects your blood sugar levels.
