Another blood test

Hi, doctor took me off metformin and reduced my gliclazide as my Bg is stable between 5.2 to 7.2. Throughout the day. Now the doc want another blood test to check my thyroid.
Is this common? Easy to treat?

Normally doctors are supposed to do thyroid function tests on diabetcs once a year I think. So this may be a routine test. They should have done the thyroid tests at the same time as your HBa1c.
