Cheating slightly and borrowing from Darren of Bedford.

Newly diagnosed with Type 2, identified by fluke, went in for a kidney infection and it snowballed from there. Oh joys!

Started on Metformin about a month ago, gradually increase the dose over a 2 week period. My doctor was concerned about the possible side effects (nice to have a doctor that tells you these things). She has discussed the prescription of drugs for the management of the cholesterol, but as mine nearly dropped to "ideal" range in nearly 3 weeks, I have suggested to wait until the 3 month review. Hope it is ok - I hate taking pills.

So much info to take in, I shall be asking lots of noobie questions!!! But also would be nice if we could get consistent advice on most topics.

Current weight is 100Kg, but circumstances preclude the use of a gym, so home exercise and walking are the order of the day. Mind you it is down from a ridiculous 119kg.

Can't tell you what the reading for my glucose was or is as my surgery is not "allocating" me a machine to help me understand.

Any suggestions for helping trim the mid riff would be welcome.
