Hi Everyone
I also have Just been diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes,Doc as put me on Metformin 500mg twice a day.

But yes I am so confused the nurse and doctor both told me to eat plenty of Carbs but after reading on here I see that isn't the case so I have ordered the collins gem carb counter book and will be counting how many carbs I actually have daily, but I am not sure what could be classed as a " safeish " level, yesterday I had about 90g of carbs,I have also bought a blood glucose meter so will be testing to see what i can and can't eat.
I go to the hospital on friday for a Education day,so that will be intresting to see what they say I should be eating
any way just wanted to say hi to all and I am finding a lot of useful info on here so thank you to all who post
Janet

Hi Janet - welcome to the forum In addition to reading here you can always ask a question if you want to know something - someone is bound to have an answer for you.

Hi Janet and a warm welcome to the forum.
It is the carb content of a meal that will determine your blood sugars. There is no magic number as to how many you personally should be eating. Be guided by your meter results and if you have any questions then please ask.
Have a look in this section and you will see a Guide for Newly Diagnosed that should help.
