Hi all I went to my GP as have been feeling unwell for months the main symptom is extreme tiredness. They did a full set of blood tests which all came back yesyerday as normal except the HbA1c which was 50 and the notes said I need to see my GP. I have been prediabetic for years. I haven't contacted my GP yet as surgery is closed until Monday.
What can I expect when I do speak to my GP ?
Welcome @sue.nic
A Hba1c of 50 means you have just crossed the line into T2, 48 and over is classed as T2 so really you are only just dangling your toes in the T2 waters.
Who knows what your Dr will advise, I would have thought a few changes to your diet should do the trick. Just lately it seem like an awful lot of them reach straight for the prescription pad.
Have a look at the link for the nutritional thingy below my post

Hi, at 50 i'm confident a small drop in carbs should be all that is needed. Your doctor should do a follow up Hba1c test shortly to confirm, as you are technically borderline. If your doctor is one of the enlightened ones, he will probably be on board with carb reducing.
