Hi, my name is Leigh and I was informed yesterday, after bloodtests, that I have type 2 diabetes. I only went to the doctors because I thought I had a water infection.

Ive been put straight on to metformin, which has frightened the life out of me as Ive never been on long term medication before and my head is full of questions which im hoping ill find at least some answers on this site.

Anyhoo, just thought Id say hello, and now Im off to do some reading.

Hi Leigh and welcome to the forum Do some reading around, use the search engine, then ask as many questions as you like. To get you started here is some basic information we give to newly diagnosed diabetics with our method of managing diabetes. You might find this is slightly different from what your health professionals tell you but we believe this works better

Hi again Leigh As an afterthought I felt you would feel more reassured about using Metformin if you had some information about it. Here is a link to some information put together by a forum monitor. The second link is to our principal thread on Metformin which is very large!
