Thank you. That’s very reassuring.Hi @Sharrryn, Every time I am prescribed an antibiotic my doctor has his spiel ready: "these may cause some nausea or tummy upset.". But if you get a rash please coms and see me.
When I had a bad bruise I remember him saying," As your body tidies up all the blood and starts repairing the damage you might have a slight fever. Please let me know though if it gets above 38.5 C or if you start get shivering".
I hope what he told me might make some sense to you.
Best Wishes for rapid healing and make the most of getting someone else to do the washing up !!
Agree with you there but a simple broken toe in the diabetic foot especially with neuropathy can lead to horror amputations so if there’s a even a slight chance of infection I’d rather take the antibiotics.I avoid antibiotics until and unless there is an infection. Antibiotic prophylaxis is a major source of allergy to antibiotics and antibiotic resistant ultra dangerous bacteria.
Yeh. It certainly makes life tough !!and once you are allergic to a class or two or three of antibiotics, you cannot have them as a defense against an infection that can be treated with them since the allergy to the antibiotic can itself lead to death. And the infection you have might have bacteria resistant to those antibiotics. Some of us are down to few options because of this resistance. And overuse of antibiotics prophetically in animals we eat has also led to resistant bacteria strains.
Ouch...... that must of hurt. Glad you healed wellI got put on a course of antibiotics after I slashed my wrist with an angle grinder & the wound got infected, late last year.
I had no ill effects from them & I healed up nicely... .

I recently used my angle grinder to cut through some steel reinforcing rods, which it did like the proverbial hot knife through butter. Sounds like you got away lightly!I got put on a course of antibiotics after I slashed my wrist with an angle grinder & the wound got infected, late last year.
