Hi There
I'm so glad that you have taken this seriously! Once iron, Vitmain B12 and folic acid deficiencies have been eliminated for tiredness anf mental fog then its important to consider deeper underying issues. When blood sugars have been poorly controlled for any number of reasons and hypos have been regularly experienced, brain cells deprived of nutrition ( oxygen, water, phytonutrients etc) begin to die and cognitive function declines. Moodiness, forgetfulness, confusion are very common. Also when blood sugar is consistently too high, this results in an acidic blood state. The fine blood vessels in the brain become damaged. Blocked or rupture brain capilliaries, unable to deliver vital nutirents to the brain's cells, leads to impaired cognitive function. Alzheimers patients who suffer from impaired cognitive function ( memory loss , agression etc) often are low in B12 and folic acid and diabetics are often high risk for Alzheimers. In order to avoid your condition progression to dementia and Alzheimers, my top five suggestions are as follows
1. stabilise your blood sugar
2. ingest 2 tablespoons of coconut oil a day ( nourishes and protects the brain)
3. Eliminate meat ( very acid and toxic to the body) - pork is especially bad
4. Eliminate cheese ( very acidic and bad fats block blood vessels)
5.Increase your intake of living and lightly steamed greens - namely kale, broccoli and spinach
Gotu Kola and Lions Mane are excellent herbs for brain function. 3 capsules per day of either or both of these will result in improved cognitive function within 2 weeks for most people. Before taking herbs, its best to clean the body out so it can receive the nutrition as well as nurture the liver. The liver is responsible for over 500 functions in the body so must be performing optimally for us to achieve great health. Also be sure that you are adequately hydrated. The average person needs as a basic requirement 1.5 - 2 litres of pure water a day - not tea, not coffee, not coke, just water! Spirulina is an excellent supplement for supplying the body with extra amounts of iron in a form easily available to the body which is non constipating. Two teaspoons a day in a glass of water daily will quickly bring up iron levels.
