hi Trev
Painkillers can make you tired but so can diabetes. What are your sugar levels like and what food do you like to eat?
A few dietary changes may give you more energy.

Been a diabetic for 20 years.Hi Trev
Sorry to hear of your amputation. I think everyone is right. Sounds like you need a slight change of diet. Have you seen a dietician and had full bloods and then based your diet on these findings?
Sorry to ask but ...how long have you been a diabetic and what was your control like before the amputation?
Do you do any excercise?
Hi trev
I'm a below knee amputee and I have low vit d and chronic anaemia. Maybe get these checked as I'm happy too but it's a hard ride from going to active to everything seeming to be so much harder and takes more energy. Prosthetics are heavy.
If you would like to chat I can give you my email address or mobile number, I know it is good to talk about things and even better if they know what you have to deal withI had mine in 2008/9 on the 5th dec and was just home before Christmas - after a 4-5 month struggle of trying to keep my leg but it was beyond help. I conceded defeat finally ( you know when your in a loosing battle)
I have dealt with staring , being ignored in my wheelchair and verbal abuse whilst being out. It's made me agoraphobic and I suffer anxiety now so am housebound. Now I'm happy and whilst I don't see people a lot I've been sick since I was 3 , worked my whole life and then amputation flipped my world upside down. I can't change things but I'm well aware there are worse people dealing with far more.
I haven't had problems with my stump luckily I did compression and was left to fully heal as I have neuropathy so they were wary of my healing when in rehab plus I asked for quick discharge post amputation as trauma wards are bug ridden hot pans. So I was happier having the nurse at home then be an inpatient.
I hope they can save that for you and plse feel free to keep in contact as I don't speak or know of any amputees. I felt quite distanced in rehab as I was the youngest and no offence many of the old people took an instant dislike to me for assuming of my age I must be some hoodlum who was in a crash or self harmed myself. So yes I've dealt with all manner of ignorance even from fellow survivors.
