Rice no matter what sort can push up sugar levels so I also learnt not too long ago, it doesnt matter the type or colour it is very high in carbs and can also be highly depending on what company produces itHi all.
Not looking for any explicit medical advise here and have booked an appointment with the nurse but it is in a month so might have to try and up that. Just an anecdoal what could this be? Anyway - pocket history. Type 2 initial readings very high, got things under control also very quickly with diet and exercise and things have been all good since. Hands up to admit that over the last 6 months or so i have been slacker than i should have been but not overly so. But, to the extent that when I tested my blood in the mornings it would be in the 7's generally. Not ideal and something I could unslack out of.
However. Last few days things have gone mental. Now just to preface I hadnt made any big lifestyle changes, didnt gorge a load of cake or anything but my morning readings jumped to the 9's. Heres the other thing. Historically, if i went for a walk (there is a particular one i do) and test after I would see a drop of about 1 point. But the other day i saw a 5 point drop when i did a test.
As an example of why i am so confused I had blood of about 6 last night before tea. Tea was chicken kebabs, so grilled chicken and vegetables with some non white rice (i forget the type). The only other thing i have had is some coffees but that is nothing new and i get a reading this morning of 9.3. WHY?
Anyway i dont know - thoughts?
Oh im on metformin 4 pills a day not sure how many milligrams but it was the max amount i could have when initially prescribed
Did you test 2 hours after your meal to see if what you ate pushed your BG to high?As an example of why i am so confused I had blood of about 6 last night before tea. Well done, I thought past was not a good thing either but every one reacts differentlyWell last i can check for a bit til the prescription for the strips updates... i had homemade spagboll sauce last night and a portion of noodles (dont ask - for some reason i thought that would be better than pasta). Anyway, two hours or so later bloods were 6.3.
Thanks for the advice everyone - i will be a bit more scientific method once the new box arrives. also have a think about getting a sensor too even just as a one off.
