Hi guys.

Me and the partner have always been interested in a bit of sea kayaking. Looks fantastic and seems to be very popular!

We have done a couple of days out paddling in the sea with them on some tuition days and feel we would like to purchase our own. However, prices of sea kayaks are more than what we would like to spend right now.

So I thought we could look second hand (seems to be hard to find a good one)

Or get a "general purpose" which can do everything. They are cheaper but it does say they are not the greatest at sea. At the minute though we wouldn't be going out when it was rough and wouldn't be going far till we build up some skills. They are also half the price for a new boat. Saying that, there are some touring/sea kayaks coming in at about £800

What would you do?

That's a nice one but unfortunately we are looking for a closed kayak not the SOT kayak. Most of the "general purpose" ones we can see are either balanced towards white water or touring. We just want boats that will go on lakes and in the sea. Maybe we should just look more towards the budget side of sea kayaks lol
