Yes, you need to fast for at least 6 hours, also your bg level must be below 10. A pet scan is to detect tumours by absorbing radioactive glucose, the absorption will be compromised if bg is not below 10 and any tumour may not show up. If you are a type 1 the last fast acting insulin has to be for the food you eat before fasting. You cannot take correction doses until after the scan.
