I am overweight. I got that way by eating large amounts of carbs . As soon as I was diagnosed last week. I looked up the recommended diet put forward by Diabetes Uk. It didn't take me long to realise that if I ate their recommended amounts of carbs I'd continue to be not only diabetic , but one on the road to a worsening condition as my current large amounts were already whole grain and probably not much more than midway on the recommended number of portions. So I for one won't be following that plan anytime soon. Before the advent of newer meds, my great granny had to control not only the sugar in her diet, but severely restrict her carb intake too. Why should I be any different?
