apidra insulin

Personally can't see any point in you using apidra Sonny as it has a shorter duration (allegedly) than Novo so wont help you one little bit if you are going high. As others have said sort your ratio out.
As you are going on a pump you should know how to sort this out yourself or if not you, your parents.

I have used Apidra insulin with Levemir and also Apidra in an insulin pump. Apidra works a bit quicker than Novorapid so it might prevent the high spike that you are getting. Its acting time is more or less the same as Humalog. Novorapid benefits from being injected about 20mins before eating food so that gives the insulin more time to start working. All the bolus insulins need the insulin to carb ratio worked out for each meal to be eaten and you will definately need to address the amount of carbohydrate that you eat and get the bolus correct so that your post meal bg levels are within a desired range. Insulin pumps will demand a lot of attention and a lot of bg testing in order to get the settings on them correct.
