Do the simple compression test. Press your finger into the area, where you think they might be swollen, for a few seconds then release. If there is a dint where your finger has been then it could be water retention.

Well they look large to me but is it their normal look? If you have a known issue with swelling in the legs and your ankles are normally large it’s impossible to say. I’m assuming there’s no actual injury to have caused it from what you are saying. Your diabetes seems under great control. They look pretty similar to each other so that means either both are swollen or neither are.

can you do an econsult for your surgery and include pictures (you can at mine). They either send a prescription for known or clear cut issues, make a face to face appointment or give you a phone call. Temporary swollen feet, especially at the end of a hot day, is not uncommon. We tend to underestimate the fluid lost through perspiration and dehydration can contribute to swelling of our lower extremities, so have plenty to drink. Best antidote is physical activity. When resting, sit with legs raised above your waist and try to avoid prolonged sitting or standing in one position.

Often swelling disappears without treatment after a good night's rest or two, but if it persists, and there's no history of injury to the affected areas (such as a strain or an insect bite for instance), I would see your GP or at least arrange a phone call.

Swelling feet. especially on the top surface, can be a sign of a heart condition. As has been said, fluid retention is another cause of this. Suggest you should at least consult with a doctor or other HCP about this if it has become noticeable.

Just to update, went to the doctors, spoke to them about the fact my A1c is at 33 - nurse went to speak to another nurse who said that I shouldnt even be on metformin with a score that low, so there is going to be a review. Then went to a third nurse who did a once over on my feet, felt for pulses on the top and at the ankle, gave them a look over and said they are fine I have nothing to worry about.

She didnt do the prick test, but I did tell her that I can feel everything she is doing anyway, they are more concerned about my blood pressure, i suffer with white coat syndrome, really badly

My tummy swells out in heat like this and my ankles. Always have as far as I can remember. White coat syndrome is horrid and I fully understand as I am the same. Have you thought about getting a home bp monitor. My dn has resigned to the fact this is the way it is for me regarding my bp. I take a weeks readings and relay back when my check up is due.
