Some of it might be alarming but in essence the article doesn't seem to have any clear conclusions as to who might be most at risk. From the little bit of mooching around I've been doing, it seems to be quite possible that there are 3 variants. If you've seen any of the maps of the spread of the virus, it even shows the route that it took to get to different countries. Two websites you might find interesting are GISAID, a German website with data being supplied by dozens and dozens of different sources all over the world. There's another one called NextStrain with some interesting maps.
