Article in the I newspaper today

The figures of sugar include a non-diet drink and chocolate bar like a mars duo, or skittles. You can buy the deals with diet drink and not have the sweets.
 
It is disgusting how these supermarkets say they are 'concerned' about customer welfare and Tesco are the worst offenders. Take off the traffic light symbols and have something like the teaspoon table on all foodstuffs with a total for these meal deals.
I know people are time poor but a few seconds to glance at the sugar/carb content wouldn't hurt.
 
I like co op they tell you the mild mod and high sugar count! Maybe they should make an app like sugar start or whatever it is called that you can scan and it tells you if suitable for diabetics maybe it can work out how much insulin you would need
 
The problem is the high GI carbs not just the sugar until bread is removed as well as the sugar they will remain unacceptable for anyone with Type2 or at risk of Type2.
 
I would not put Tesco at the top of that pyramid. I could name at least 2 others that are reknowned for being worse, but I won't. They know who they are.... Actually I believe Tesco have sponsored DUK in the recent past, so are making steps in the right direction.

If we are talking 30 spoons of sugar as stated in the article, then how big a package would you need to display them, and I bet it would be involving single use plastic to do that.
 

Perhaps a sign over the meal deal stand?

I picked on Tesco through personal experience and because of recent scandals in the news. Nothing could convince me to shop there.

As for my spoon symbol just a spoon and a number would suffice.
 
And, while I'm feeling vexed, the 'per serving' guide needs to be cleared up, too. We all know that the servings we have at home bear no relation to that stated on the box of, let's say, a sugary cereal. So I think it should be by weight not by 'typical serving' that is just set by the manufacturers themselves. Breathe!
