I'm a relative newby to diabetes but have been looking at artificial sweetners for a couple of weeks now - all I know about sucralose is that it is a chemically altered sweetner and some people here use it some not. If you type sucralose into the search function you will find lots of threads discussing this and other sweetners. I am sure someone with more knowledge and experience will come along and give you more info. Personally, I wouldn't touch anything ending is 'ose'.

Also look at Zsweet if your wife wants to use sugar in baking - its good and diabetics can use this in baking and adding to coffee etc.

Sucralose is the "Pseudo scientific" name for Splenda. Splenda tablets are carb free, but the powder has a carb or two from the bulking agent. It's one of the few low cal sweeteners which survives cooking.
And there's probably more rubbish written about it on the web than any other subject. I can assure you
that the chlorine atoms in it are tightly and safely chemically bound in the molecules.
I find the taste quite acceptable. It doesn't have the aftertaste of some products.

Anything with less than 1g of carb per 100ml is great and requires no injection.
Generally, a snack of 15g of carbs or less needn't be injected for, but of course liquids work a lot more quickly at raising the blood glucose level.
