I have a 6 year old son who is type 1 since Feb this year
We have been doing really well as a family with the diabetes with the help of lovely people on this forum and the diabetes team.
For the last few days my sons bcg have been between 12 to 15 for breakfast and lunch. His ketones have been checked and they are fine however we are worried and not sure if we have to increase his dosage. At present he is having 5.5 units of lantus at night and is on 4 units of novo rapid during breakfast.
Am waiting for a call back from the nurse for advice on what to do but thought i would post on here in the meantime if someone can give any advice etc.
Hi sorry I did not see your post yesterday, I would have replied sooner. It looks like your son needs a higher dose of insulin, but I would recommend speaking to his healthcare team before making variations. Extra blood tests will also be a good idea if his dose does change, and make sure to have some fast acting glucose on hand in case of hypos.
