And FBS this morning was the lowest it has been since being diagnosed Something similar happened last month when I ate some frozen yogurt. Very very confusing.

It’s my birthday tomorrow and my staff brought in cupcakes. I was not going to eat one, but then caved. I was and still am filled with guilt. I have no idea why I ate the cupcake, as I don’t even care for sweets, and my least favorite sweet treat are cupcakes!

Two things;

Firstly insulin resistance is elastic. Glucose readings meal-to-meal can be misleading, bringing about misplaced hubris in one’s metabolic health.

Secondly. Don’t worry about it. Stay calm and carry on

I think of diabetes management a bit like dental health.
If I never clean my teeth, they will fall out. If I very occasionally get home feeling very tired, just want to go to sleep and "forget" to clean my teeth, I may wake with a carpet in my mouth but my teeth won't fall out.
Likewise, if I ate a cupcake everyday, my diabetes management would be shot but one on my birthday is not going to cause retinopathy, neuropathy and heart disease. As long as it doesn't became habit, enjoy your birthday treat from your generous staff.
... And a belated happy birthday.

Hi,
Please don't feel guilty, an occasional treat is fine.
Happy birthday for Sunday.
Take care

That’s a wonderful analogy! Thank you.
