I have a son and husband who both have type 1 diabetes. We were lucky as we were aware of the symptoms and our son was not 'sick' at diagnosis. He was 4 at the time, he is now 13. I know that many other families are not so lucky as symptoms are often missed or explained away. I am trying to raise awareness and have started a petition.
