This morning for the first time my b/s levels were 9.1 . I have been so careful , b/s levels have been around 6.9 -7.3 and some times a s low as 5.3 but I don't know what has happened its as if I got up in the middle of the night and eat everything I could fine . Can you tell me if this is normal? Please.

hi although its normal to have higher first thing in the morning readings, 9 is too high, how is your diet etc?

I think its not too bad I know what spikes the sugar now and stay away from it . I try to keep it under control and most of the time I do , but today it rebelled may be it was just a one off, I will monitor for a few times more and if it doesn't settle down go to see a GP .

Sometimes you just get a rogue outlier result at the edge of the meter's accuracy range. If you don't think there's any reason for it rewash your hands and retest.

Hi Angela, as has been said, look at your diet and check for a few days to see if it settles
Has the dr suggested metformin to you, that will get your morning dawn phenomena numbers down and a few other good things.

As others have said, it might just be a rogue reading. Don't panic about it and see if it settles down again and is just a one off.

It may sound obvious but try not to stress about it, I have noticed that my BS can rocket when I get stressed, even worrying that it might be high can make it high.

Thanks for your reply , I have monitored since and find that the b/s has settled down so I must put it down to a rogue reading, That is so much more comfort for me. Thank you once again.
