Hello I'm new. I have been type 2 diabetic since March 2014. I take 500mg of metformin/syptigliptin twice daily, In March of this year I was diagnosed B12 and folic acid deficient. Is there anyone on the forum who is too?,

I think B12 deficiency is common in people who take metformin. I was told to supplement right out of the gate and my doctor will give me a shot when I see him under the notion that it can't hurt and might help. Vitamin D is also very common to be low in all people. I do not know anything about folic acid other than pregnant women need to supplement it.

What does being deficient in B12 cause or rather show up symptom wise?

B12 deficiency can cause neurological symptoms including neuropathy. It is sometimes misdiagnosed as diabetic neuropathy. I am sure there is a lot more and a quick google search will probably get you more than you ever wanted to know.
