Bare Naked (Konjac) Rice

I found Bare Naked Rice today in Morrisons after being tipped by one or two on the forum. It is 0.9g per 100g carb content. It is rice shape Konjac noodles. Great!

I bought some.

However it contains Calcium Hydroxide. Do we know much about this food additive?

I can say that it wasn’t very tasty. . I will go for cauliflower or broccoli rice in future. Worth a try though.

Nothing will taste like "real rice" though.

I do not if you have a typo with cacium for calcium, but one link I found for cacium hydroxide comes from China as a food additive. The food additives form there are a bit suspect at times.

Yes indeed. Same as lye water which is sodium hydroxide or caustic soda. OMG

They stick that in their food.

(That should have been calcium, yes)

I tried them a few years ago and didn't like them at all - they also completely bunged me up and set of a bout of diverticulitis for which I had to have anti biotics for! - steered clear ever since - cauliflower rice or any shredded above ground veg much better as a carrier for saucy things

Oh shoot. I hope I manage to avoid that. I had a whole packet.
