Basal Reduction - Any scientific basis

As always I'm still trying to trim the basal rate correctly for exercise. this morning I did a reduced bolus at breakfast and a basal rate reduction down to 20%.

What I would be interested to know is are there any research papers out there that describe how the non-pancreatically-challenged body would respond to exercise? I know the natural action would be for circulating insulin to reduce, but by how much?
