A Libre would be a great idea to help spot trends during the night & any other time between meter tests.
However. It may not always be the liver "doing it's magic." (As your nurse suggests.) sometimes the liver can waive its wand after perfect figures on waking but an hour's run about prepping for work with "nil by mouth.?" But my experience only drives BGs up by a couple of Mmols
What insulin are you prescribed?
& my advice when planting a sensor. Inside the arm. There is a tendency to sleep on it when located on the outside which could give a "false low" reading on the graph when scanned with the pressure? ("Compression low.")
