Been ill all day now. And not with sickness so you can imagine what with. Been going low and high all day and a bit confused if theres a cause for concern? Should I just let it ride out? Everything I eat is just coming straight back.

Hi Rachy, hope you are feeling a bit better! Would I be guessing right at hangover perhaps? My son, 16 years and recently T1 diagnosed, had a 'serious' talking to by diabetes doctor this week. Basically, if you have alcohol and feel rough in the morning please get yourself to the diabetes team - they wont judge, she said it happens all the time and it's their "bread and butter" but the message was to let them help before you get ill. If you are still feeling rough and throwing up then please do get in touch with you diabetes team. Al the best!

Obviously if you throw something up you won't be digesting all the carbs in it! And if you're not digesting the carbs you won't need as much insulin.

It looks like you're just on Novomix. Basal+bolus regimens (such as Lantus + NovoRapid) or pump infusions tend to make it easier to deal with times like this, as you can reduce your Rapid-acting dose without reducing your long-acting dose. I often skip meals and I've done a few 24-hour fasts on my basal/bolus regimen, all I really have to do is skip my rapid dosage (and keep monitoring). If you haven't considered basal-bolus before it might be a good option.

Hope you feel better soon!

no no hangover, I was at work and it come on all of a sudden. im not throwing up its the other way round lol.
im feeling alot better today its just that i had it all day and i couldnt keep anything down. its just that the nurses always say if you have continuous sickness or diorrhea then you should either ring your GP or ring the hospital so i was a little confused as to what to do as id had for around 8 hours

thankyou

Cool drinks sipped slowly and caffeine free.
plenty of rest.

Your are probably best as you say "ride it out for the day" then if it persist phone your GP.

Lets hope it is just one of those nasty stomach bugs that soon goes away. ( some say do not feed that nasty bug )

Get better soon and good health.

Roy.
