Hello Kristeen.
From what you are saying it appears you are too afraid to try Victoza ?
If my tale can reassure you? I too - was just like yourself ...
Totally unable to tollerate metformin in various formula's plus other tablet form meds
for treatment of diabetes.
[see my signature of meds intollerances]
My stomack becomes a washing machine when I start any new meds ,
tumbling over n throws up all sorts of reactions to medications.
I eventually slowly started Victoza lowest dose of 0.6 for 2 weeks to begin with .
We were 'all' amazed as I took to it without any side effects as all .
Then I titrated the dose slowly up week by week till 1.2 units and I have remained on this ever since .
It DOES work for me
I really dont regret it - the concern with the side effects you mention I know the element of risk is there
but the benefits of Victoza with my BG levels over ride this concern for myself.
Any deep fears really do neeed to be discussed with your GP or DSN ...
They are the best people to help you with the reality side of things.
As you only have 2 ways of approach with this fear .
Either to refuse it - or try it ...
The choice is absolutely yours alone .
I react to a lot of meds but yet can tollerate Victoza well.
We are all unique and individulal as what works for one wont/cant be guaranteed
to work for all .
Best to call your GP or the DSN and explain things properly , how you are really feeling etc... to either of them .
As to sit too scared or stuck to move forwards with this - isnt progress for yourself is it ?
To help yourself you need to take some form of action
Hope you can finally do this after thinking it through some more
Please reach for the phone - explain your deep concerns and fear ...
To your GP or the DSN they can and will help you .
Anna.
