Been very stupid!

Hi guys, feeling a bit stupid after getting over to my boyfriends house tonight, sitting in front of my dinner and suddenly realising I didn't have any needles! Felt so guilty as he had to spend half an hour driving me home while our food went cold to get one
Has anyone else made any silly mistakes like that before? I'm usually a really organised person and would love some reassurance!
 

Don't worry, I'm sure we have all done similar things and not just regarding diabetes. Leaving house keys at home, is probably top on the list lol. I made a silly mistake when older friends took me out for a birthday meal, I forgot my Insulin, so I just had salad and none of us can drive, we went by bus and I'm sure your boyfriend loves you for who you are

'We all make mistakes, that's why we have rubbers on the end of pencils ' lol honestly, it's not the end of the world.

Putting my coffee or purse on the roof of the car and driving off... I've done that twice.

Since my re-diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, I've forgotten a few times to bring a snack or food I can eat when out with friends.

A few weeks ago, I met friends for coffee and realized I hadn't brought my between meal snack of walnuts with me, and I was particularly hungry that day, so I bought a bag of sunflower seeds, but I couldn't remember how to crack and remove the shell with my teeth despite my friend's best efforts to coach me. Now at the coffee house, my choices were...sugary or more sugary baked items, but then I saw that they had greek yogurt with perhaps an 1/8 cup of toasted oatmeal. When I tasted it, I realized it had been sweetened, but hoped the fat in the yogurt would slow the surge in blood glucose. My blood glucose soared to 225 mg/dL (12.5 mmol/L). Hope I never do that again.
 
I've mixed up my short acting and long acting dose before, so I injected 20u of novorapid on an empty stomach... I got to eat cakes when I did that one so wasn't so bad in the long run.
Just recently I was on holiday and had a big meal, tried to do my Novorapid injection (I always inject after so I know how much I have eaten) and realised it had run out. I had some spare novorapid back at the hotel but we were out for the day.

I'm always doing silly things like that. I frequently can't remember if I've injected or not that day.
 
The night I first got "lucky" with my now wife, I wasn't planning on carrying the basal.. (A gentleman never does!)
so had to put things on hold while I fired home to get it..
 
I remember when I went To a family get together once a 35 minute drive away and forgot to take my injections, had to drive back to get them, also like anticarb have mixed up my novo rapid and levemir when I was first diagnosed, back then I took 32 units of levemir, instead taking 32 of novo rapid safe to say I was up most of the night nursing my sugars
 
Aww don't worry about it. It happens I went to uni without my insulin and spent the whole day eating nothing haha! Course when I came home I raided the fridge like a crazy animal!!!!
I also used to forget a lot of the time in college too but I was lucky because my mum works evenings so could always drop off insulin when I needed it in the day
 
I usually remember mine but remember a few years ago the whole family aent to Glasgow for my Gran's funeral & my big sister forgot her novorapid. Luckily for her I had spare needles & didnt mind sharing my pen since it was an emergency (or 3.5hr drive home)

Better late than never, I suppose. Good job she is patient and caring.

Lol. You got no idea.. At the point of "formal consent". I mentioned "OK I'll just scoot home & get my Glargine.."
She looked a little worried, like there was some sort of dark, weird. underground "fifty shader" party drug thing going on..?
She looked somewhat relived when I explained I was Diabetic as I legged it out the door..
 
Whilst on holiday in Cornwall a few years back...we went out on a family day trip...a good couple of hours drive from where we were staying. We were sat in a restaurant and had just ordered when I realised that the insulin pen I had on me was empty .

Thankfully we managed to find an emergency medical centre...get an emergency appointment/prescription and all was well...but was a good few hours out of our day and so annoying. More annoying was...in typical mother style...I'd packed up all the other 'just in case' type stuff...mostly pretty useless items that just sit in a bag in the back of the car for the day...but not the most essential item of all

I'd love to say that taught me a lesson...but alas no...I've done it again since...maybe not on such a big scale...but I'm sure I'll do it again...we're only human.

As with any of the other medication or associated peripheral packing "oversight" accounts told, It's nothing more than a minor set back.
 
I have for many years used same needle until insulin finished, caused no problems or infections just recover needle when used.
