Best Insulin Pump

Hi All new to the forum. I've been diagnosed with Type 1 for 8 years. Ive decided due to poor diabetic control to try an insulin pump, which thankfully will be funded by the CCG/NHS. Ive been told to research pump and given a few options to look at. Currently undecided between the Medtronic 640g/780 or the T:slim does anyone have any recommendations on which is the best one to choose? I Currently have the Freestyle Libre sensor but hope to get funding for a compatible sensor once Ive chose my pump.

Hey, I’m waiting for my 780G to be delivered as we speak. It was dispatched Friday. I’m 26 now and last used a pump when I was 14/15. I picked the 780 because I’ve been granted funding for the Medtronic guardian 3 CGM sensor to run alongside it which is a massive bonus. If your going to pick one of the Medtronic pumps go for the 780g, it automatically shuts off insulin if it picks up that your going low or if youve miscalculated your carbs it will give you some more insulin to get your levels back into range. Obviously these features only work if it’s linked up to there guardian CGM so maybe see if your hospital will fund the CGM before committing to a pump.

I downloaded the T slim simulator on my phone & personally didn’t like it at all, I’m 26 and tech savvy but I found it quite complicated if I’m honest where as with the Medtronic it seems simple. You’ll get a huge variation of reviews & opinions on forums like these because for some they work great and for others they don’t. Not sure what procedures your hospital has in place but I wasn’t offered the option to sit down with a few pumps and see which one I liked best because of COVID. I remember when I got my pump as a 14 year old I got the chance to play with 3/4 different pumps before choosing.
