How much is blood glucose affected by stress?
I know that there is no categorical answer to this, but just wondering what people's experience has been.

My levels have been significantly higher over the last week. I haven't eaten anything different, but I know my stress levels are high at the moment - to the point where I'm not sleeping.
Only explanation I can come up with is that the stress is sending my levels up.

Yes! Stress increases cortisol levels, which can increase blood sugar. Add in deficient sleep and you have double trouble.

For me, stress was the trigger that threw me into full-blown T2.

I suspect it tipped me over the edge too. But im highly stressed at the moment and my sugar is 0.5-1.0 higher than I'd normally hope for.

All sorts of non-diet things can possibly affect your glucose levels: e.g. health, weather, exercise, and definitely stress. I certainly see rises - probably around 1.0.-1.5 mmol/l from such sources. The art is in not stressing over levels when they are being affected by circumstances beyond your control - you can only keep to your normal diet where possible and ride it out.
