Hi everyone,

I've had the flu since Wednesday so it's been a while now, my bloods have been super high but they're still high and I'm just at the end of it now, how long does it normally take for them to get back to normal?
 
up insulin 10----15% on basal and bolus insulin.
drink plenty of fluids as you will be resting or in bed so not much burn off so keep carbs under control accurate as poss
check and keep a note of bloods ugars should come down slowly WILL TAKE TIME good luck

Yep. Dehydration will work against you, so keep hydrated. There are routines called Sick Day Rules that need to be used when under the weather, which should be explained in T1D training sessions

Beware of OTC medication for coughs and colds since these are often packed with sugars (or worse, hidden sugars such as alcohols etc such as Malitol or Maltose/ dextrose for a pick-me-up). Even things like Beechams powders and Lemsip are to be wary of.

I had a chest infection on Xmas Day that made me delerious and breathless like i was having a heart attack, Broke into neighbours medicine chest and gulped down their cough expectorant. Turns out it had 3.5 g of glucose + 1 g sucrose per 5 ml dose. Also contained 2 ml ethanol per 5 ml serving. And 0,5 mg salt per dose.
