Hello there all you experienced T1 types.... I have a conundrum for you and would appreciate your thoughts!

So, below is a very typical day for me (no gym or any exercise):

After dinner/before bed (11:00pm): 9.7
Wake up (7:00am): 9.4
Before breakfast (9:30am): 11.4
After breakfast (11:30am): 11.7
Before lunch (1:00pm): 9.4
After lunch (3pm): 7.4
Hypo (6:30pm): 3.4 (treat appropriately)
Before dinner (8:00pm): 5.9
After dinner/before bed (11:00pm): 9.9

This has been going on for the last 3 weeks... I seem to be spending the first half of the day trying to get my readings down.... and then the second half, trying to get them up!

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Your overnight bg levels only moved by 0.3 which is very good, if you could just get your pre-bed reading down to <6.5mmol it would mean your bg levels have been in range for 8 hours..... which is a third of your day.

To stop your waking levels from increasing try eating breakfast (and bolus accordingly) as soon as you wake-up, this shuts off the liver dumping glucose and by providing the fuel yourself you can best manage your morning bg levels, the hypo 5 hours after lunch will likely be that your basal insulin is too high and may need adjusting.

I'd agree with most of what Noblehead says but I'd say that the overnight readings indicate that basal is about right so I'm not sure about the afternoon. It seems more likely that the lunch time ratio is too high? Of course it may be that day time basal requirements are lower than night time which is difficult to deal with unless on a pump.. I'd increase the ratio (step by step) at dinner time.
