@derry60 I had the same thing happen before Christmas and I had bronchitis my doctor gave me Simple Linctus Sugar Free it did help and some capsules that broke up all the nasty stuff on your chest and tubes, so don't worry when you are well they will return to your normal readings, mine did them Christmas and New Year shot them a little higher! We cannot win eh! KI am just getting over Bronchitis, still chesty but feel better than what I did. Thing is my sugars are all over the place. Took BG within two hours after lunch 6.7 Waited 2 mins took it again, it went up to 7.6 I thought how can it jump so quick so I decided to give it another shot a minute after this time 6.5 Is this happening because I have a chest infection,or will Amoxcillin cause a rise in my BG levels? I am used to seeing numbers in their 5s and around 6.1 90 mins after a meal.
Yes I have had the hacking cough also. Yes I feel much better now. I will have to ride this one out.. Thank youbronchitis can be considered strenuous activity in my opinion. I just got over a terrible dry hacking cough and it was exhausting. Bs was higher too.
Other cough meds can raise it as well
Feel better!
I took my blood again later and they were 7.0 then again straight after it had gone down to 6.2 Wonder if there is something wrong with my meter,or it could be just my illnessI am just getting over Bronchitis, still chesty but feel better than what I did. I’m like @derry60 and like to see my normal lowers. 11is MUCH to high for me. So is 6. Illness is not so much controllable but fluctuations stinkFirst, I won’t say your blood sugar are all over the place when it stays between 5-8 mmol, thats perfectly normal. Your readings seems like non-diabetic to me.
All blood sugar monitors usually have a
deviation of +/- 0.5 mmol, which means you can get two different reading with up to 1mmol difference right after each other.
I would be worried if your blood sugar were flucating below 4 mmol and far beyond 11 mmol, that would be «all over» the place in my book.
Don’t worry, your blood sugar sounds perfectly normal (based on what you wrote in this post)
