I've got type 2 diabetes and I've had a blood blister appear on my left outer toe... Its the toe which has the least sensation and looks red on the area of the blister, but no 'outer redness' (as in it doesn't appear to be infected).
Is it something I should see the specialist nurse about or can I just put a plaster on it? - Wondering if my shoes have just rubbed or something?
In my experience, it depends
- how bad is the blister?
- how painful is it?
- has it got worse?
- do you know what has caused it? you say you wonder if your shoes have rubbed ; I would know if this happened
- have you done anything different that may have caused it? Such as walk further than usual or wear a new pair of shoes.
Only a health care professional can actually tell you if it is diabetes related and only you know how bad it is.
I have had blood blisters in the past and let them heal themselves.
