Blood is always thicker when you wake up because you are partially hydrated.
Your bladder is full and you haven't emptied it and you also haven't drank anything for several hours.
In my experience the lower I am the more viscous my blood appears to be. I can usually tell if a count is going to be good just by looking at the blood droplet.
Really funny timing.... I was only wondering this morning why sometimes my blood looks WAY darker and less "runny" than other times.... I *think* this tends to happen when I'm a bit on the low side - though possibly it's just when I'm a bit dehydrated.... I've not really monitored it as it doesn't happen that often - which is why I really notice when it is dark!
Anyway - interesting to see others notice differences too
