I have type 1 diabetes. The doc's say my blood pressure is to high 142/87 so put me on Remipril, but this has sent my platlet count very low, can anyone suggest some other medication to bring down my blood pressure. Would like to get some ideas before i see the doc.

Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor.

There are ARBs, Calcium channel blockers, Diuretics and good old Beta Blockers ( not so popular nowadays) and there are others that doctors sometimes use.

What is best for you is what works without side effects, my best guess is something like Losartan (an ARB) but it is sometimes a
matter of trying it and wait and see. Your doctor will have something that he/she prefers or is better suited to your case, you have to be guided by your doctor on this.
