Hi! I am new here, and have been browsing the forums, finding a great deal of very valuable information. Thought I would take advantage of all your accumulated knowledge and see if anyone here has any input thoughts my problem.
I was recently (4-5 months ago) diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and am doing well on diet (low carb), exercise and metformin. That is, most of the time. When my period comes around, the blood sugar goes up, no matter what I do... It's somewhere between 7 and 8 in the mornings, lower during the day, and this goes on for nearly a couple of weeks, until it's down to 4-5 in the mornings again. I make no changes in my lifestyle during my period, I diet and execise as ususal. I suppose I can live with this, but it is a concern, and I would like to be able to control it; I just hate to see the higher figures... I am also concerned that I am moving towards menopause, and that the hormonal changes during that might impact the blood sugar levels even more.
Does anyone here have any ideas about this - any medication or other measures I can take? Or should I just try to accept this? I would very much appreciate any input at all!
By the way, I am from Sweden, and a lousy proof reader (REALLY lousy), so please forgive any mistakes, and put them down to either language or typing difficulties
