Blood sugar levels

Can any one shed some light on something for me ?! i started taking metformin (500 mg x 2 )about 2 months ago now, my blood sugar levels are still around the 11 mark - lowest 10, highest 12 - it was 14 - i think - when i had my blood test. i would have thought by now my levels would be down to normal. does anyone know the time frame i should be expecting?
