Blood sugar lowers after coming off Metformin

I went to my doctor because I was getting a lot of acid reflux, upset stomachs and the occasional vomit. He said metformin might be the cause so to come off it and see what happens. First two weeks my sugar levels soared and then suddenly in week 3 sugar levels reduced substantially. At first I thought it was my new meter playing up but I tested with my old one and it showed the same. I was taking a mix of metformin and vidaglyptin and am now just taking the vidaglyptin. My doctor has no explanation and suggests we leave it for a month and see what happens. My sugar levels have never been so good!
Anyone else had this experience?

It just goes to show that you must have very good control, awesome, keep up the good work you are obviously on the right track.

Has anything else changed - are you perhaps eating less or differently now you're not suffering so badly from the side-effects of Metformin?

That's the strange thing. Nothing has changed in my diet, lifestyle etc. I just don't get it. How is one tablet on its own more effective than a combined one?
