Type 1 Blood sugar spikes. Can anybody give me some advice?

Hey everyone,

So I'm type 1 and been so for 20 years. I have good control most of the time but I'm having trouble with blood sugar spikes during meal times.
They are now starting to occur even when I know that I have carb counted correctly and I have waited the 10 mins before eating post insulin dose.
I have a libre which shows that the spike is definitely from the food. My tresiba dose is correct. I'm on a 1.5unit to 10g ratio. An example would be from breakfast today, started at 7.8 but an hour later after eating I rise to 15.

I'm wondering if my lack of exercise recently is causing this but I am unsure. I'm sorry for the long post and any help or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

How high are you spiking and for how long?
I ask because it is common when we start using Libre (or other CGM) to panic when we see spikes, we worry.
But they are normal.
If you look at these Libre graphs from someone without diabetes, you will see they spike to above 9mmol/l after for example, eating a pizza.

Erm it depends on what I have eaten, obviously with more carb heavy things I do split my insulin which often stops the spike. So what it normally does is rise after an hour. Then in the 2 to 3 hr mark it lowers around 2mmol/l but if for example my sugars rise to 15 then it'll lower to 12/13 and will stay like that.
I'm also wondering if I have difficulty with delayed digestion with carbohydrates. I sometimes get a delayed spike 2 hours later.

Hi there
From my point of view my lessened exercise plus the odd treat over Christmas, plus because it's colder I am eating more carbs which I do carb count accurately. To compensate I upped my treshiba by 1.5 units which dealt with the highs and spikes but now I am back at work and eating less carbs am now adjusting down again. I have still not decided though whether my evening meal ratios have increased because of all the other variables. I may have it sussed by spring when it will change again.
Good luck
