Hi everyone,
I'm T2 and have got my blood sugar level to between
5 and 7.4 this has been constant for about 2 weeks I'm dieting and slowly losing weight and taking 2 500mg metformin per day.
I still eat white bread as opposed to brown but have cut down on portion sizes for other meals.
At the moment my body is happy with my diet as it is and I feel a lot better in myself.
Do I need swap white for brown bread and rice ect.

Those are the levels of a non-diabetic! That's excellent. If the 7s are only occurring shortly after meals, you're essentially perfect. Keep working on the healthy lifestyle, but it looks like you don't need to make more changes if you don't want to.

Just watch the rice. Rice will send my BG soaring. I've had to completely give up the stuff. Your levels look excellent, keep up the good work.

That's a brilliant result.

But the answer is yes.
Refined food is never good on any diet, so the less you eat, even as a non diabetic, the better it is.

Wholegrain bread is better.
Brown rice is better.

Switching to classic "healthy" foods away from refined foods has long terms benefits on bs, cholesterol, and blood pressure.

Now's the time to get a few more good changes in!
