500 metformin twice a day been type 2 for 3 months now new to I've lost 2 stone an was told not to get a blood sugar meter by nurse as there for type 1 s I was curios to no my sugars an was shocked how low they were that was Fri night after eating sugary things at weekend mon morn it was 7.0
Metformin is not going to cause hypoglycemia (or at least to those levels). My guess is that the meter malfunctioned and caused a false reading.
Even if you were taking a sulfonylurea (Gliclazide) it would still be incredibly unlikely for it to cause levels that low. Heck, it would even take an incredibly rare and severe case of reactive hypoglycemia to actually reach levels that low.
If it were me, I'd chalk it up to a technical glitch.
