Blood-work results, surreal!

Just back from doctor's office after waiting 2 weeks for requested GAD-65. Results show GAD (65) at 250.0, doctor looked at me incredulously and said, "I can't believe you are a type 1 diabetic/LADA" seriously? I felt detached from myself (worried I was having a hypo, not). My HGB. A1C was a 15, mind you this was last November. There are no follow-ups on that test, but that will be changing as I see endocrinologist in July. He was amazed this time with my many logs (levels, diet, exercise, # of glucose tablets per/day). This being after he told me I was making myself crazy with testing and diet. Why, I questioned, have we not had a follow-up HGB. A1C test, after all it has been 7 months since hospital stay? No answer, and on to other things. Such as, explaining autoimmune disease, etc. Here I sit, and Thank God that my gut told me something was wrong. Strange day, indeed.

Well done for persevering, hopefully now you will get the correct medical treatment for the type of diabetes you have.
