Your eyes may need a little while longer to adjust to your better control(keep up the good work!).
Even if your problem is down to macular oedema, this is a treatable condition.
So the answer is no, you won't go blind.
Just remember to keep up your regular eye screenings, usually done through your
diabetes specialist or your local optician.

Take it easy, your eyes will come back when you control your numbers, blood glucose.
I`m a delivery driver and was told last September that i`m T2, I tried my best to control my numbers and keep my eyes in focus, cost me a fortune about five new glasses and three re-glass jobs, and for a week NO glasses, I`ve worn glasses since junier school.
Like i said get thoes number under control and the eyes come back.

One word of advive, have you any old pairs, give them a go you just may be able to use one of them for a while untill your numbers settle.

Your now in our club, I`m sure any problems and at least one person will have been there and done that, Ive had so much help from people hear, there realy nice people.

I was diagnosed with type 2 nearly 3 weeks ago,all was ok until last weekend then got very blurry vision,couldnt see close up with my reading glasses or distance, although reading glasses seemed to help that!went to eye clinic on tuesday and was told was down to blood sugar levels coming down quickly,my eyes had not had time to adjust,but they will ,but could be weeks before they settle,so do not go for eye test as will change,so got pair of specs from chemist which help me to see distance more clearly,and wear them with my reading glasses on top to see the computer,so sitting here with two pairs of specs perched on my nose ,it is scary not being able to see clearly,so just trying to cope best I can until they settle down and can get a new prescription that suits my eyes how they end up,or who know's may not need any,all the best hope your eyes settle soon.mo

You are not alone, infact I could have written your message! I was also diagnosed mid april (type 1) and was admitted to the HDU with DKA. My sight is still not what it was but is heaps better - I could not read a thing even with my glasses to start with, people kept texting me and I had to use a magnifying glass to read anything! Magnifying glass has gone and my numbers are pretty much in the range they should be like you but when I remove my glasses everything is still very blurry. I have also been told they will improve and am waiting for my eye photo thing to be done (booked for 2/7) so will not be totally reassured until then.

Everyone says it takes a while so I guess we just wait! Problem is I am not very patient!

Early morning sugars are a problem. In the main I only take a snack before bedtime if, on testing my BS it is low, or if I have eaten late and had a fast acting injection within the past couple of hours. I work on the insulin being active for about 3 hours (Novorapid) and devide the dose by 3 to assess how much is left still to work. (Example: If I ate and injected 9 units at 9 pm and tested my BS at 11 before bed, I would estimate 3 units still to work.) I then look at the BS reading to work out if I need to eat anything.

If I have eaten earlier - which I try to do as this makes things easier all round, I take an additional small fast acting insulin injection to cover the correction if the BS reading is high. I have worked out the ratios I need to apply and have a table which lives in the meter case. This gives me good control of the morning reading. I take much less Lantus than you - 14 units before bed - but take up 45/50 units of novorapid per day. I am not on a particularly low carb diet, but have given up sugar and the obvious things. I do adjust the amount of insulin taken at each meal based on a correction for a low or high BS reading and then an adjustable amount to cover the carb content of the meal.

None of this is an exact science and stress and physical exercise affect things too. I moved house at the beginning of the year and, although it was stressful, the dealy with lawyers did not affect my BS. What did was packing boxes etc, which turned out to be a far greater affect than I would have guessed.

I am no expert and frequently get it wrong - BS was 16.5 this morning and I suspect this was a liver reaction to going low overnight as I hadn't eaten anything since 8 pm the previous day.

I am sure your eyes will adjust - mine did in exactly the same way you describe. I bought 2 pairs of glasses during the period as I had to continue working and driving. My final prescription was weaker than before I was taken ill. Quite a costly business.

Indeed we seem to have hit this exciting era at the around the same time! I still feel it is all a bit new and confusing. I start to think I have got it and then something throws me. I back went to the gym on Wed (only allowed to do 15 mins at the moment iuntil is see how I go ) anyway I thought your numbers dropped when excercising (insulin being more effective etc) however mine went the highest that they have been in the morning since I have been back at work!

I have been told to aim for between 4 and 7 and can go over this a bit but my daytime ones are usually single figures. My ones before bed are often double figs but I eat late and go to bed early (I also get up early) so Iam rarely 2 hrs clear of eating so I don't worry about those - just mark in my book that it was under 2 hrs. I have been pretty careful with my food though as I have only had one dietician appointment so far as she the went off and got married - so I am hoping to start being a bit more adventurous soon - next appt 18th. I reaaly am keen to try and eat as normally (and healthily of course) as possible to start with and will maybe play with the low carb etc later when I am more sure of what I am doing.

I have my eye appt 2/7 and will then ask if I should go and get a new prescription then. I will then use one of the online specs companies as they are sooooo much cheaper and if my eye are going to change regularly then I will need cheap!

the reason your sugars went up when you were working out might have been because your sugars could have been high before you started exercising so you may have had keytones, and if you do anything energetic while there is the presence of keytones, this causes the sugars to go higher
